Major activities undertaken so far:

1. In Kundapura, the local Sangha there viz. “Billava Samaja Seva Sangha” built a new Shree Narayana Guru Kalyana Matapa in January 1991. Our Sangha in Mumbai has mobilized a large sum and donated the same to the said Kalyana Mantapa.

2. A cultural programme was held on 17/10/1993 in the Premji Cawasji Institute Hall near Metro Cinema and thereby a good amount was collected towards Education Fund.

3. A ‘LUCKY DRAW’ was conducted in the year 1999 whereby a handsome amount was collected and contributed towards the construction of “Shree Sidhi Vinayaka Temple” near Shree Narayana Guru Kalyana Mantapa at Kundapura.

4. The arrival of “MILLENIUM”- THE YEAR 2000 was celebrated with a Cultural Programme at Patkar Hall in South Mumbai. The occasion was graced by various dignitaries from Mumbai and elsewhere. A souvenir named “SWAGATHA” was released on this occasion.

5. On the eve of establishment of Sagar co-op credit society in Byndoor, Kundapura Taluk during 2000-2002, a meeting of the managing committee members of the Sangha was held with the promoters of the co-op.credit society where upon a good amount was mobilized towards share capital of the said society.

6. A Marriage Bureau was created in 2002 for the benefit of members in the metropolitan city of Mumbai and its suburbs. Members are taking advantage of this facility.

7. During 2005, there was an unprecedented flood in Mumbai metro. The managing committee and some of the active members of the Sangha visited the affected people and rendered financial and other assistance by way of distribution of food packets, sugar, oil, clothes etc.

8. As a result of several years of efforts of the members of the committee, on 29/1/2006 a Directory of migrated Kundapura Billavas named “Kaideepa” was released in a cultural programme held.

9. Sangha’s founder member, well-wisher and renowned writer Shri Babu Shiva Poojari was honoured with title “BILLAVA SAHITYA RATNA” for his book “SHRI NARAYANA GURU VIJAYA DARSHANA”. This function was graced by many dignitaries from Mumbai.

10. In March 2011, Sangha bought any office premises of about 1000 sq.feet at Kamothe, Manasarovar, New Mumbai. The amount required for its purchase was donated by members and our well-wishers.

11. To support activities of the ladies and to get their assistance to Managing Committee a Ladies Wing was created in 2011.

12. During the year 2013, our Sangha completes 25 years in the service of the society. On 28/10/2012 our Sangha’s Silver Jubilee Celebration Function was organized at Dr.M. Visveshwarayya Smaraka Mandira, Matunga(W), Mumbai. The function was inaugurated by Shri Kota Shrinivas Poojari (Hon’ble Minister,Govt. of Karnataka). On this occasion, Shri Kota Shrinivas Poojari was felicitated also. During the function, meritorious students were awarded scholarships. Besides as part of Variety Entertainment Programme, a Kannada Drama “AMBE”, directed by Dr. Bharathkumar Polipu was played.

13. In order to strengthen the activities of the Sangha, a youth wing “yuvabhyudaya” was created in 2013.

14. In order to celebrate the silver jubilee function successfully a “Utsava Samithi was constituted”.

Today our Sangha has a total membership of more than 2000. The Sangha does not believe in publicity or show business.
